Scaffolding is a temporary structure that offers support to both workers and materials during the construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings. Contractors performing their duties above the ground or floor on both the exterior and interior of a building require scaffolding equipment to remain elevated while working. Construction workers across the globe rely on scaffolding equipment to help them complete their projects on time and on budget. Various types of scaffolding are used, depending on the nature of the work to be accomplished.

One type, Pump jack scaffolding, uses mobile poles braced to the roof or wall in order to assemble a mobile platform which is easy to install and transport. Contractors working on buildings rely on a pump on the actual jacks to either lower or raise the platform as needed. This scaffolding is ideal in a dynamic work environment and is stable to use on uneven ground. Pump jacks do not extend far from the wall, making them particularly effective in narrow spaces.
